"Historic and peaceful"
The cleanest hotel room ever. Quiet. I come here for R and R. Inexpensive places to eat within walking distance if you don't want a big meal in the hotel although I understand the restaurant is outstanding. (I don't think there's a bar.) Very close parking. Beautiful campus for walking. Lots of historical photos and markers. Arts and crafts. Small town […] atmosphere. Five minutes off the interstate. I just love this place! This is beautifully restored historic building right in the center of the action of Berea Kentucky. This community has some very fine local artist student's handiwork on display and for sale. "Beautiful place in nice setting"
We stayed here one night on the way from Detroit to Florida. This is a welcome change from the usual chain hotel. Nicely preserved old place. Very courteous staff. "Maybe in a few years..."
First- a heads up. It's a dry town. So bring alcohol- you will need it. This hotel tries- but it is not there yet. While the decor and furnishings are lavish- they skimp on comfort things like pillows, tvs, cable, personality. The hard as a rock pillow is why I'm writing this review at 5:47 am - after a night of no sleep. Berea appears quaint, and cute... […] but people are zombies - who mean well - but have zero personality. Also, the dinner- no bueno. If someone has never been out of Kentucky- it might be good... otherwise - bland and lacking true creativity or adventure for your palate. The bathroom full of short hairs was annoying too. Almost like a Bed and Breakfast experience. Very nice hotel and very well maintained. Two small drawbacks - first the room was small but that is too be expected for a 100 year old hotel. Second the air conditioning units are supposed to be eco friendly which in my opinion means "uncomfortable". Welovex the fact it was the first "green" hotel in Kentucky. The college has recently in Estes millions making the facility environmentally friendly. "Good Experience"
Interesting place to visit. Neat old building with friendly staff trying hard to please us. Dining room nice with good, not great, food. Too much light bleed around the door into the hallway, flashing green smoke alarm? light in the room, and large orange face on clock-radio didn't help me sleep. A little street noise. The shape of the sink countertop […] and faucet placement coupled with the wimpy water pressure/flow just didn't work. "Historic hotel with old fashioned friendliness"
Hotel was very clean and all the staff were exceptionally friendly. Piano player in the lobby played relaxing music and seemed to enjoy playing. The dinner food tasted great, but was gourmet style. I was hoping for a more low-key menu. It was expensive, but good. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The only downside of the room was […] the size. It was only large enough for the double bed, a desk, and the dresser which held the TV and coffeepot. Not large enough for a bedside endtable, etc. We only stayed in the room to sleep, so size didn't matter. Just thought I should mention size in case it matters to you. what a great experience. I am a daniel boone fanatic...and we had just visited boonesboro before checking into this historic treasure. the college student staff were wonderful and helpful. the restaurant is superb and the inn has been restored and is quite beautiful indeed. we were there in the off season so we ghot a great deal. but i would pay more […] to stay there again! indulge yourself once in a while...live outside the box and spend a little more and bring joy to your heart! I have stayed at the Historic Boone Tavern Hotel and Restaurant a few years ago and it was beautiful then but after their renovations in 2009, they have outdone themselves! "Cleanest hotel ever!"
Staying at the Boone Tavern Hotel was a very pleasant experience. Our king-size room was not large but well furnished in such a way as to maximize the use of the space so that it was still very comfortable. The bed / pillows were comfortable and everything in the room worked -- TV, clock, phone, lamps, etc. The bathroom was very functional. The staff […] was very pleasant and check-in / check-out was very easy and efficient. The surrounding neighborhood was a great place for walking about -- beautiful college campus and many nice little shops. Of all of this, the best thing that I can say about the hotel is that it was immaculately clean. It could pass any white glove test. You couldn't even find dust on the base boards or corners -- bathroom was the same -- thoroughly clean. Very strict non-smoking policy which is good for non-smokers (like us)who don't like to stay in rooms that reek of stale cigarette smoke. Took advantage of a great rate to stay at this hotel while visiting our daughter in Berea. When our daughter had more company and we needed to find a place for our son to stay on our second night, the staff here was incredibly helpful and including him with us was no trouble at all. For staying as a couple I would recommend that guests reserve a queen, king, or room with two fulls in order to have plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful and historic surroundings!
