We were only there for 2 nights. It was ok. Positives: Location is fantastic! Close enough to transport to airport, to sightseeing bus tours, close enough to bars restaurants, walking distance to La Rambla; Wasnt expensive; checkin was easy; staff were friendly enough; was clean! Negatives: room was tiny, hard to open your full size case, could only do it on the bed; there was no way of controlling the temperature in the room, thought i turned on fan, but it was just blowing the hot air around, and there was nothing to cool the room down.
Great location, is not what it looks on pictures!! very small rom , no space between bed and closet, horrible for the price we paid !!
The problem of this 3 stars hotel is that has no lobby. There is just a small entrance with the receptionist and two chairs. Every tine you arrive to the hotel you have to knock on the door so as they open it (not bell and not key card to open the main door!) The room was nice, well appointed and with a nice bathroom and terrace but very small short space to hung your clothes. The breakfast was OK and the location very good
I chose the BCN Urban Gran Ducat because of its' proximity to the Aerobus stop at Catalunya Plaza and what I considered a good price for such a popular area. I was returning to Barcelona from a solo bike tour and would need to get my bicycle (in a box) to the bus for my return home. As indicated the rooms are small but this is a city hotel so this is to be expected, I was traveling by myself so it was less of a challenge. With regards to street/city noise that others have mentioned, when I checked in the staff asked if I wanted a view of the street or of the hotel inner square. She said if you need it quieter then the hotel view is better. I chose the street view but I am a heavy sleeper and I had no problems, I was there for 4 nights. As for the location, it is very close to the metro (at least 2 stations). It is a very touristy area as I saw a lot of people walking with suitcases. There is a Starbucks next door and a McDonalds down the street and of course Catalunya Plaza which is a great place to people watch. It's kinda like the Times Square area of Barcelona. I walked to la Ramba & the market and the Gothic Quater - very nice! One note for bike tourist was they had a rule of no bikes in the rooms. They let me store it in the utility area that is behind the terrace, it's not a locked area but it's not somewhere guest would venture. The elevator requires you to make the bike verticle as it is so small, I carried mine to the area (2nd floor)
