Beach front is what you pay for. Friendly service. Rooms definitely need remodeling.
Karahe has two sides divided by a road you have to cross. If you’re on the side with the beach the rooms are nice but if you’re on the other side the rooms are not updated and look bleak. The service/staff was great everyone was really nice The pool needs an update. But the property was right on the beach and has chairs and umbrellas for their guests which was the biggest plus.
A great view and right on the beach. The hotel is also very close to the National park and provides you with great services on the beach.
I selected March 15 thru March 17th to stay at this hotel, and it defaulted me another date, with the wrong occupancy for the night I wasn’t going to be in Costa Rica. The website didn’t state the dates I was searching were full, and I verified after I selected the approval to charge me, and now we are waiting to see if the hotel will void any cancellation fee, since we are as a family trying to stay there on different dates
There was a water leak. The bathroom and bedroom floor was totally wet when we woke up. There was no WI-FI in the room. There was no warm water. I would not stay there again. But the room was very clean. And the people were very nice.
We walked across the street and the beach was right there. That was very convenient. The room itself was average. We were only there to shower and sleep and didn't spend much time there anyways. We did find some bugs in the shower almost every day, but I guess with it being Costa Rica, thats something we might not have been able to avoid.
Pretty, convenient, pool, beach access, friendly staff.
Starting with the positives: beautiful beach, very close to Manuel Antonio Park entrance, pool was okay Negatives: overall a bit tired/run down. Seemed like owners are trying to cut corners, save a few bucks Food area not appealing at all, and pricey at that. Beach chairs are old or rusty, cushions stained. Rooms very basic, old wicker chairs falling apart. Staff not particularly friendly or helpful. Use caution when booking a room, only the premium (beachfront) rooms are on the beach side of the road. ALL other rooms are above the road with a climb required.
We enjoyed our stay at Karahe. The semi-private beach is very nice with the hotel restaurant and pool right there. If you struggle with stairs I would recommend only staying in the oceanfront rooms. The other room types require some exercise to walk to. Wifi was fair in the room, and very good in the restaurant. Breakfast was pretty good. The hotel was overall very good, but I thought the price was a little to high for what it was. Maybe that's just the high season price the week after Christmas. The beach area is very good as I mentioned and if you want to spend a lot of time there this would be a good hotel. What I did not like is that all stores and restaurants (other than the hotel restaurants) were at least a 15 min walk on a steep, curvy road with essentially no sidewalk. Not very safe to walk anywhere with kids except on the beach. If you want to explore the area you need to either have a rental car, learn to use the public bus, or sign up for expensive day tours.
Our room was right on the beach, had a nice view and very convenient access to a very clean, soft, and beautiful beach.
