The Highland House

The place is an old building no wider than one and a half Victorian cottage. There are 12 rooms altogether so you could imagine how cramped the rooms are. In fact, I don’t think it is able to call itself a hotel, the stairs are too steep and passages too narrow. The toilet door closes inches away from your face with no window and floor to ceiling black wall, it is a very confined place to say the least. Only a few rooms facing the street have good nature light with others facing neighbouring wall only inches away. To be fair the place has a good decor but I am not sure black walls are ideal for small place. The whole place is manned by one person sitting at a desk on the entry. Amazingly I asked him about the direction to the Anne Frank’s House and he said he never heard of it, unbelievable! The location of this place however, it’s very central. But then again as we were staying on the street side, we were waken up every morning at 7 by delivery trucks for the shops. Personally I am not quite sure it is worth it.

Good location with friendly staff. Rooms were a bit small, especially if you are staying longer than a weekend but would go back.

It was exceptional and the staff were wonderful

We couldn't have asked for a better stay. We visited to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday. I had read great reviews of the holiday and it did not disappoint. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean, with every amenity we could need. The staff had decorated the room with balloons, chocolates and complimentary bottle or prosecco to celebrate. Water and coffee was freely provided. The cleaning staff always left us lovely notes and the staff helped us book tours and with everything and anything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble. The area was quiet considering the hotel is located right in the middle of one of the busiest areas. We would go back without a second thought. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
