The hotel was fine overall though rather tired looking in places. Outside could do with being painted in places which creates a rather shabby look which could be improved reasonably easily.. The big problem was being unable to get access to my room on the second night due to the code failing which meant I had to walk to reception to get this dealt with rather than just going to bed.

Lovely grounds for a walk. There's plenty of car parking spaces. Check in/out was efficient with friendly staff. The rooms are clean and tidy with tea,coffee making facilities. Drinks at the bar were a bit pricey but of good quality

They insisted I pay for food and drink as I went and would not then give me a vat receipt, the service in the restaurant was slow, the food was cold and when I complained the microwaved it and sent it back. We had a fire alarm go off at around 06.30 in the morning, i evacuated the room, no staff were present to offer advise. After about 5 minutes the alarm was silenced, so i went back to my room, then the Sounder went off another 6 times as the staff did not know how to reset it. I have sensitive ears and they are still ringing now which i had documented with reception. So always close the bathroom door when taking a shower as the steam sets off the sensor as it thinks its smoke. Basically this is what setoff the alarm in this case.
