Looking at the building this was a break of great promise. Unfortunately we were let down on many occasions and will not be staying here again.
First thing to know is parking. Although the hotel has a small car park, they charge £20 a night to park there. The alternative is on street parking - right outside - at a 1/3 of the price. If you download the phone app you can top up remotely.
Check in was OK after we'd found the reception and we attempted to book the restaurant having travelled all day. The restaurant was full that night and the following night by large parties, but we managed to get in on night 3.
The room was quite small and (first bugbear) only one comfy chair, plus the TV faced the bed with no swivel, so you're lying on the bed if you want to watch any TV. Bathroom, well appointed, shower only - -only 2 rooms out of 85 have baths apparently.
Room temperature was another sticking point. The aircon control was locked - no-one ever told us why, so if we were too hot or cold, we had to ring reception to ask them to change it for us - pathetic.
After we'd eaten on the 3rd night, the bill was wrong, I queried this and why we couldn't charge items to the room? Finally we were told that if you book via a 3rd party (Hotels.com), you can't charge to the room. I suggested this was ridiculous whereupon the receptionist snatched the bill out of my hand, took off the service charge (!!) and gave it me back. Fine by me!
Overall, a poor performance, not to be repeated
