When we arrived we found out our reservations were lost, I showed the email and verified they got us a room. The suite was soooo nasty, layers of dust, floor tiles missing, exposed wires in outlets, light in the shower falling out with larger hole in ceiling, curtains in bathroom falling out of ceiling mount, wallpaper pealing off wall, shower tiles missing, We had to wait in line for 45 minutes to check in. We came back from dinner and finally tracked a manager down at 1 am and asked for another room she knew that this was an issue with the room and was able to relocate us. When we went to pack up we found the toilets had overflowed all over the floors and soaked some clothes. Next room was better but really not anything special for a 1700 sq ft suite, as tiles were once again falling off in the shower and shower drain would slow drain and fill up so showers had to be really fast. The pullout was horrible as the frame was all bent and mattress unbearable, housekeeping never came over the 4 nights we stayed and we had asked a few times for more towels. I understand that the hotel is undergoing renovations so hopefully it will improve. Most of the shops and bars in the common areas were closed and appeared to have been for a good while, the Stillary, Lala lounge and Voodoo were all closed. So I would rather stay at a motel 8 than at the Rio again. to be avoided at all costs unless the renovations are complete.
