The Musée Marc Chagall is a French national museum in the city centre of Nice dedicated to the life and art of the artist famed for his Biblical themes. The museum was established and opened during Chagall's lifetime with support from the French Minister of Culture. It houses all 17 of Chagall's 'Biblical Message' paintings.

The collection has grown to include stained glass pieces, sculptures, sketches and many other items and exhibits, making it one of the largest collections of Chagall's works in the entire world. The exhibits are largely family friendly and exhibited in a light, airy, open space.

Highlights of the Musée Marc Chagall

The Musée Marc Chagall's biggest attraction is its centrepiece: the 17 paintings that comprise the legendary 'Biblical Message'. The first room introduces the initial 12 paintings from the Old Testament, while the second offers the remaining 5.

Surrounding these paintings, however, are more than 400 other works of art, all by Chagall, to comprise one of the largest curated collections of the artist's works in existence today. The permanent collection contains both secular and religious works, including more than 400 paintings, drawings, pastels, wash drawings, gouaches, sculptures, sketches and many others to entertain and educate.
