The staff is outstanding! Warm and friendly. The place has character. Because it is a historic property, I'm willing to overlook a lot of the drawbacks, but people considering it should be aware there are many.
I was given a second floor room. The stairs were uneven and the layout is somewhat confusing. My room was about average in terms of cleanliness. Shelves were coming loose from the wall. The plumbing was not in great shape. Water pressure was very low. Staff acknowledged that there was a water crisis that had not yet been resolved. It wasn't there fault. As with many 19th century properties, wiring was an afterthought. Wi-fi was terrible--slow, weak signal, constant outages. Furnishings were a bit shabby and the Edgar Allan Poe theme was a bit over-the-top in places. The restaurant was closed.
Despite all the drawbacks, I thought the place had character and would recommend it. The place was comfortable and I felt very much at home there.
