This is a once splendid colonial hotel of the early sixties, from its style, which has had little maintenance or attention for many years. Rooms, ample in size, are very poorly maintained; alarming smell from the bath. On my last night the electricity failed for some three hours, a problem of the Nigerien state, not the hotel, but the hotel has no generator; I had to hurriedly pack in the dark to make my flight. Personnel can be quite friendly, but often to involve the guests in expensive deals. Meals in an empty restaurant, international but far from tasty; bored and negligent waiters. As a result of these problems, the hotel is little frequented by foreign guests, but nearly as expensive as the best in Niamey. It should be avoided if possible.
