The hotel was wonderful. I would stay there again. The area felt safe and lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance. We took a nice walk in the morning and explored the historic district.
sadly, the Hotel Julien has
lost its luster. We got no housekeeping over a weekend. And the rooms and elevators were dirty. A large pile of trash and take-out food containers sat in the hallway on our floor all weekend.
Amazing hotel with great character and history! Well appointed rooms, beautifully decorated, excellent location and walkability, including 1 block from Five Flags Center. Appreciated an early check in and regular checkout is noon - loved that!
Girlfriend overnight stay. Definitely want to come back!
We stayed at the Julien Hotel for one night to attend a concert at the Five Flags Center, which is one to two blocks away. The hotel is a lovely historic hotel. No complaints.
We have stayed at this hotel in the past and have always enjoyed the service. Itâs an iconic older hotel but it is in fantastic shape. They do not skimp on amenities. The only downfall was the pillows on the bed that were rock hard and flat.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and always enjoy it. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant on site is wonderful. The pillows on the beds are awful though that would be my only complaint.
It all seemed promising - a sumptuous lobby steeped in another time ⊠so right for this historic river town. The check in clerk was OK but hardly made us feel comfortable as her style was curt and she seemed annoyed that we had questionsâŠ..mmmm. Anyway we get up to our room and upon first blush itâs great - similar vibe to the lobby and then my companion announcedâ Thereâs no windowâ What?? Really??? NO WINDOW - a small skylight but hardly big enough to escape through if there were a fire ⊠yikes. Yes there was a large bathroom, and a comfortable seating area and other appropriate ammenities but NO WINDOW. Upon check out I asked how many of their rooms had no windows and she said 6 ⊠and that âExpediaâ opts for these cheaper rooms. No where in the room description did I see mention of NO WINDOW - that would have been good to know. It also would have been appropriate for the check in clerk to mention that detail and offer us an upgrade if we were interested (rooms were available) - but she didnât - ugh. Delicious Chocolate Shoppe ice shop across the street if you like that sort of thingâŠ.and several breweries in the neighborhood too.
This beautiful historic hotel did not disappoint. Its decor transports you back in time while still making you feel quite elegant and casual at the same time. Itâs clean everywhere you go and having plenty of parking and a somewhere to dine onsite is very convenient. I wasnât able to get an appointment at the spa but it just made me want to go back. Until next time Dubuque!
Elegant historic hotel in downtown Dubuque. Room was small but nicely appointed; bed was very comfortable. Also enjoyed a romantic dinner at Carolineâs, the hotel restaurant.
