The hotel is in an attractive building and the superior double was a reasonable size and well decorated. Bed a little soft, but ok. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Well situated between central Bristol and Clifton Village
Dirty carpet. Tired furniture. Noisy bed (creaky). Awful bathroom with cracked sink, flooring coming up, tiny shower cubicle with shower head that flops down
Booked and paid for one of our drivers to stay at this hotel. When he arrived later that evening he was told that his booking had been cancelled and the hotel was full. So much for a paid in advance confirmed booking. Our sriver had no means to cover the cost of a hotel himself and was left standed in Bristol. Shocking service. Avoid at all costs.
The hotel is a tad difficult to get into, so read their instructions clearly. There is no receptionist. Thereâs a bell on the front door, but donât ring it because no one will come. The room was fine, but dated. The room we had was in the front, and the only air you get is by opening the window. I mention the front because when you open the window you get the street noise. Breakfast is meh! Finally, the parking! Itâs a nightmare. Thereâs three parking spots for the entire hotel. We drove around trying to find street parking for 30 minutes, then finally gave up and parked in the city center.it was so far away we had to UBER back to the hotel. All in all it was a miss, but it might suit others.
On arrival we found a pile of soiled saucy underwear in the corner of our room. It was in clear view and difficult to miss. The woman on reception was reluctant to accept there was a problem until we dragged her up to our room and pointed at it. There was no real apology or subsequent response to our request for a token gesture of goodwill.
Overall the property was in a poor state of repair with stained carpets, grubby woodwork and a general feeling of cheapness.
QR code and door code check in was a bit confusing as was able to get in front door but then message to tell me what room I was in took 5 minutes to come through leaving us just waiting in an unmanned reception.
Room was comfy but in a poor state of repair - sink completely cracked, shower head bracket broken, back of bathroom door had a hole that had been very poorly filled with polyfiller, carpet needed a good clean.
Would stay again as a cheap overnight with friends after a night out but not with family.
Arrived at the hotel to find the limited parking consists of 3 spaces. Parked on roadside 10 minute walk away from hotel. Have restrictions on where you can park and for how long in Clifton.
Code sent to my phone of access to hotel room no and another access no as already checked in online. Lady at the desk who I had met earlier to find out about parking informed us we had no booking with them. Took 45 minutes to sort which was very frustrating and offered no apology.
Clifton is a lovely place to visit and have stayed here before but sadly this experience has made me not want to go there again.
The bed sheet and duvet was stained by blood. We asked them to change them which the friendly receptionist did but even the new duvet was bloody. They did not leave us even one small bottle of shampoo like all other hotels, not even a small lotion. This hotel is far from shops and it was a difficult night without any of these. The room was smelly, smelled like a very old and rusty place with a stuffy feel to it. They did not have a bar or even a vending machine. They some breakfast snacks which was also terrible. We did not have water. When we asked for drinking water they only gave us one small bottle not even two.
I cant tell you about the stay because on the day of the booking i called to check on parking and was was told by hotels.com that the parking was full and i would have to find parking elsewhere. I have a van and couldn't park anywhere. I asked Hotels.com to cancel my booking but for some reason, that didnt happen. I was asked to ring the hotel, i rang at least 10 times but they never answered and the one time they did, they couldnt tell me anything as the booking ref from Hotels.com was not one that they recognised. They constantly sent me messages about how was my check in and others that didnt make sense. They said that they tried to call me but i had no missed call from them. They even asked me to review the hotel!!! I never stayed there. Hotels.com have now asked me to cancel the hotel or i may get extra charges!!! The date has now passed and the service or lack of, from both the hotel and hotels.com has been the worst i have ever experienced when booking through hotels.com. No one talks to you anymore, I am seriously thinking about moving my business elsewhere.
Cheap & cheerless
No staff on reception so it felt very impersonal (everything done by door codes)
I was in a basement room that smelled damp, I hope that other rooms would be better
