The Cotton Sail is on the river and offers great views and you can walk to all of the shopping and dining spots rather quickly. But watch those cobblestones, bricks, and rocks on the pathways while you shop. They are ankle twisters if you miss and step off or in-between them. The hotel itself was just okay. Floors in the room had wall paint splatters from renovations and were dirty with dust and hair, disgusting really. The silver lining: the bed and linens were very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean minus the floor, but it looked a bit dark and grimy. Be advised, there are no microwaves or mini refrigerators in the king bed rooms; at least those things weren't in the room I had.
The staff was excellent. The valet service was top notch. All in all, I rate this hotel a solid four out of five stars. Why not grade the hotel less, one might ask because this is a review concerning the hotel....My solid answer is this: the staff was and is amazing. Maybe the cleaning staff needs better training or there just needs to be more hires for that position. Also.....
visitors should be aware that the streets below get crazy loud. You will hear the music, the people, cars, boat horns, everything! So if you want a quiet stay, this may not be the place for you. But if you're used to city living and love the energy of city life, give the Cotton Sail a try. I don't know if I would choose the hotel for another stay. However, I definitely would go back to Savannah.
