The hotel is in a beautiful large older house in the Ponsonby neighborhood. Our room was large and comfortable. It was a short walk from the hotel to a street lined with restaurants, cafes, shops and bars. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay was short but amazing. Our host made us feel at home. The house and rooms are charming and had everything we needed. The grounds are great and inviting. We had a little rain but still enjoyed the birds and the quiet atmosphere. The views on to the city and sky tower are perfect. Walking to dinner was not a problem and we had awesome Cambodian food at Tinfenys in the ponsonby central food court.
The Great Ponsonby is a place full of character and quirky⊠we loved it!
All the staff are so kind, friendly and helpful. They even did our laundry! Breakfast was great. Lots of places to dine within very easy walking distance. Wish we could have stayed longer.
We loved the neighborhood that this property is in, particularly that it was walkable to good food, quiet at night, and had a nice small park nearby. The staff were great and very accommodating and helpful. What the property lacks is privacy -- other visitors hanging out outside of their rooms talking sounded like they were in our room, and if our blinds were open, anyone could see in. Overall, though, I would stay here again.
A great, quiet location to explore Ponsonby and surroundings. The street was very quiet however the buildings are pretty dated and it was loud whenever the next room used the shower/bathroom. The rooms could do with a refurbishment but the staff were so lovely and accommodating.
Everything was great, staff was so friendly and helpful. Only downside (but a large one), the bed was uncomfortable. Super soft and difficult to sleep. Plus not many king size options so we opted for Queen but Iâm a toss/turner at night, so next to husband didnât sleep great. But everything was clean, great space for the room, and a great location next to restaurants and had free parking.
Lovely hotel in a quiet street just off the main road of Ponsonby. Terrific location, right near one of Aucklandâs best eating districts. Service was very friendly and the hotel was quiet. Would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful two nights stay here - especially since we walked to dinner both nights and there are so many restaurants just a few blocks away. Out also quite close to downtown Auckland, the harbor and Sky Tower. The room itself was fine - had everything that was advertised. There was even a cute little courtyard right outside our unit of we had wanted to linger (we didnât as we were only there two days and had so much we wanted to see and do).
A lovely place in a quiet neighbourhood, just a couple of minutes walk from some of the best eating & drinking in Auckland - you could spend weeks here and never eat at the same place twice. The ArtHotel itself is lovely - we stayed in a small apartment which had everything we needed. The staff were lovely and gave us all the space & privacy we needed, while the ArtHotel had plenty of social options for those who like that sort of thing. We'll definitely stay there again when we return to Auckland.
It was bit like stepping back in time, back to honesty and trust. They offer a free drink, if you want more you write down what you had, for eg. No full length mirror. Also no shower cap! Otherwise everything you could want. Very quiet. Nice rooms.
