Located in the heart of Inverness, a short distance from the river, it is a great spot for those seeking a city break with every amenity close at hand. Parking is best at the 24-hour multi-storey on Old Rose Street (ÂŁ9 for 24 hours, ÂŁ8 for every 24 after that - and less if your stay is shorter). Itâs a five-minute walk to Union Street and the guest house. A flight of stairs takes you to the reception and a very warm and friendly welcome. Rooms are basic, the furnishings a little tired, but they present very well. The downside is for the noise of the gulls outside. They squawked in unison most of the night - but of course that isnât the fault of the guest house.
Breakfast is included, and it consists of a choice of cereals, yoghurt, crumpets, pains au chocolat, brioche, bread for toasting, jams, a choice of tea, coffee and fruit juices. For the purpose of our visit, the Waverley was very good and I would stay here again - but bring earplugs to counter the birds!
