Bhutan is timeless journey and staying here at Le Meridien in the heart of Thimphu is wonderful. The staff are beyond gracious and kind and always at your service. From here you can walk around Thimphu and see and touch and feel the safety and enjoyment of a land where the people live as one family. I return here again and again and each time I am more and more impressed.
This is a great place, right in the downtown, very walkable from all the major streets. The rooms are great too. What makes this hotel really really great is the staff, though.
Our special thanks to Deki Yangden and Tashi Lhaden at the front desk for making us feel so welcome, to our housekeeper Sonam for the amazing gesture of arranging a foot soak for us, for the entire restaurant staff for the great service, especially Dampai Wangchuk, Deki, Chefs Sukraj and Sangay Bidha (her Thukpa is the best!) - last but not least to Chef Anurag - the food in the restaurant here is one of the best weâve eaten.
We will definitely stay in Le Meridien when we visit Thimphu next.
I stayed at Le Meridien Thimphu since it first opened and this is my 4th time at the same hotel.
I returned as I was always impressed with its service, food, location and its ambience. I requested for a room to be bright and nearer elevator which was granted.
However, this time I was a little disappointed with some minor issues ... the service was a little lacking in terms of replenishing the toiletries and the food is not as good as before. The bathroom needs a little sprucing up. However I was still happy with the overall experience and hope the next time when I return it will be back to its old days when it first opened.
The hotel is located in the city and is convenient to access. At the same time, it is quiet and has it's own charm. The food, particularly the Indian food in the multi-cuisine restaurant, was superb!
