The main problem of this hotel -besides the fact that the infrastructure is declining and the service quite unprofesionnal (for example our beachbeds were taken for another room - is the management, which has recently changed, and not for good.
We basically booked this second night at The Sands just to access the room from 10am to 4pm (and not spend the night we paid for) because the hotel coudn't manage for late check out, day use, or even a solution for lugage or shower. We asked the reception on arrival and on Saturday evening. We asked guest relationship manager. Nobody could help or care! We requested to speak to the hotel manager who only appeared at 10.30am on the Sunday.... after checkout, after we had decided to pay for a second night. He came just to justify that 10am checkout is the POLICY that we have to know. Not even a kind word, not even a proposal for a drink or free bottle of water while whe were booking full prive an unused night! No effort to make the customer happy, just comments to make us feel guilty because we had said that checkout time at 10pm on Sunday is not the unique international standard as he pretend! And thesame guy will surely continues to lie (as he did on his availability or later by email about the exact time we checked out) in answer to this report, to disquilify it. This proves he didnt understand that hospitality is making guest happy, while respecting the standards, not make them unsatisfactory by enforcing the standards without care.
