For a one night stay the 'comfort room" is perfectly adequate. The room decor is a bit dated and dark. The bedding is a bit dated with blanket and cover rather than duvet. Having the door and only window opening onto the footpath and driveway means a lack of privacy. Noise from next door (?function room?) was quite loud until home time. The small fridge was truly small. The restaurant served up some great local fare on the verandah. The swimming pool was a nice respite from the heat. For the extra money I would stay in the chalet/cottages. Bu tall in all an OK stay for one night.
I booked a mountain view chalet because I was travelling with dogs. This provided an ideal stop-over and when we arrived we knew we had found something special. It is off the main road to Beaufort West so you feel as if you are in the bush. The surroundings were great- olive tree groves as well as indigenous karoo vegetation and landscapes. Do yourself a favour and do the Porcupine trail- a well-marked out easy walk with great vistas and information boards. There is also a good bird hide for twitchers. The dogs were very well accommodated, and were even allowed to join us on the patio for dinner. The chalet was good value for money- nothing fancy but very clean, with fans for the heat and two bedrooms and a kitchen and lounge. Even in the drought there was a pool to cool off in, and the gardens are very peaceful. There is a lot of pride in this place, and the staff are amazing. I can't wait to go back and spend a weekend exploring. Tips: if you're taking pets, book a chalet not a suite, and buy some of the olive body cream made on site. Pets stayed free which was also a bonus!
Very friendly service from all staff and room was well equipped, clean and neat. Can definitely recommend a stay with Olive Grove Guest Farm! Thank you all.
