The area was beautiful and the few staff we encountered were courteous. The bunkroom we stayed in had dirty blue pillowcases, fitted sheets, and duvets. This is a shared room hostel which is a great way to meet people from around the world. The wifi was so weak we had to either sit at reception or not have access. Just like any other hostel, you rent towels and strip your own beds of the white linens you place there prior to sleep. The building wasn't well maintained and there was no sound limit enforced after a respectable time. This is a good hostel for maybe those in their 20's or older and travels regular ly. The price for 2 beds was an average rate we could have paid at another hotel but wouldn't have had the convenience to the hiking trails. Regardless, we wouldn't stay again. It was OKAY, not great, but doable. Recommend for young people or the regukar backpacker/hiker who doesn't expect regular niceties. Better than roughing it by being sheltered and having toilet/shower access. You can do laundry at âŹ5/wash & âŹ5/dry, so âŹ10/load. No thanks!!!
Stayed in a room as a family of 5. I'll admit that this is the first time I have stayed in a hostel but it wasn't something we will do again. Room was small, only 1 outlet in the room for 5. No towels in the room, had to pay extra for towels. No wifi as mentioned, except in the lobby - so the lobby was full of students. The wife definitely wasn't happy. The place reminded me of an airline, where everything was nickel and dimed. Next time, just stay in someplace nicer.
Overall it was ok, staff friendly.
Beds were quite hard and when I complained about the shower that stayed cold, there was no compensation.
Later another room was offered because heating in mine wasnât working. That was a nice gesture.
Amazingly quiet for a youth hostel-surprising but just what I needed! Was lucky with the weather short walk to local hotel bistro and the park lakes etc.Easy to find.Twin room was fine good shower.
I had a really nice time in Glebdalough international youth hostel. Though breakfast is very expensive. For that price youâd better go to a restaurant. But wait, there is none, no supermarket as well. So thatâs what they are calculate with.
But the couch area is very comfy there.
We stayed in one of the twin rooms with ensuite. While the room is quite small, it was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The kitchen and dining facilities are very good and well stocked with crockery and cutlery. A basic breakfast is offered for a small charge. Nice little touches which we didn't expect in a youth hostel included an additional mirror in the bedroom, a light over the bathroom mirror, excellent shower, chilled water in the kitchen and friendly hosts. Best of all is the location - right next to the Monastery and about 10 minutes walk from the lower lake.
We had a car so we could travel to other hiking regions and for other eating spots but we loved this place. Quaint, very clean, sunny, lovely. Only thing was no wifi in rooms.
we had a nice time there. it's located perfectly, the breakfast wasn't include which it could be... but it was very good though... room was nice too, stuff was nice, perfect stay for little money. also child friendly
The people are helpful and friendly. The room was good for a family of five. The wifi didn't work in the rooms, had to go to the lobby. The building looked in need of some up keep. The bathroom was a little dirty. We still enjoyed ourselves! Would stay again, after all it is a hostel!
