Townhouse style lodging was unique. Their private beach made our stay well worth it. You will need to rent a golf cart during your stay if you want to come and go in and out of the town. Walking is out of question. Remember there's $50 a day resort fee.
I started my Christmas tradition years ago exploring different places and cultures and I can attest Belize takes the cake. From start to finish and everything in between I was completely blown away. The resort was not only breathtaking by design but accessible, cleanly, and safe. The friendliest staff, Roberto, Henry, Macreena made my stay one to remember. Making this special place an experience of a lifetime. I think if I had to relive any second of 2020 it would be the 8 nights I spent at Mahogany Bay!
Pleasant location on San Pedro. Kicked out of room a day early with Corona virus pandemic and wanted the extra day to continue my search for new lodging. No coffee, no apologies, basically just get out we are closed.. very disappointing!
Need more amenities. Nothing much to do on resort. We were there for 10 days and it was boring. Had to go into town every day
This property is a beautiful little world unto itself. They seem to still be putting some of the finishing touches on the property, so there is some construction going on. I loved the little villas instead of hotel rooms-I don't know if the pictures do them justice. They have string lights on the trees at night and it really creates a beautiful atmosphere. The pool area was very nice and dining offered some standard foods as well as Belizian fare. You really don't have to go off of the grounds to have access to a variety of restaurants and bars, and there were shops with local art and jewelry. The resort is about a 20 minute golf cart/cab ride from the drop-off at the water taxi terminal. I would try to arrange to have a cab to come pick you up to take you if you can. Having a credit card and some cash on hand will help you to experience everything- one night we tried to get food at a stand but they were operating on a cash-only basis. Some places take US cash and Belizean money, some are specific to one. It's good to have both if you can. Outlets are standard US type A and B; you won't need adaptors. Bug spray is a must-the mosquitos are hungry!
Loved the pool and the choice of restaurants and bars. The private beach was amazing!
Positives: the pool is lovely, the beach is private and some of the staff are good at what they do. Negatives: the lack of glass in the windows of the rooms means: you hear a couple close to you having sex, you smell the smoke from a smoker in your room, you hear the gold carts going by all times of the day/night and you can't open the blinds because the rooms are so close together, they can see into your room. The TV signal literally goes "out" every 10 to 15 minutes, Many times when a request would be made to a staff member, they would not do what what requested and would not follow up. I would not stay at this facility again until changes are made. It is expensive for what you actually get.
We had a great experience at Mahogany Bay Resort. The staff is extremely friendly and my husband and I really enjoyed our stay in the Upper Keeping Suite. The food on premise has great options and the Taco Shack and Empanadas are tasty cheaper options! The pool area is nice. When we checked in the staff said it was "busy" however there were still always enough lounge chairs by the pool regardless time of day. This hotel is not "ocean-front"- however, you can take a 12 minute boat ride to the resorts own beach front island. It is idyllic. There is a beach club where you can get towels, order food, and drink. The water only goes up to your knees and if you use a raft it's heaven to float. The resort is still newer so not that lush. A lot of palm trees, flowers and bushes were just planted and in the next few years I see it being much greener. However, for now the terrain still looks much like a resort in Arizona. Would 10/10 want to come back!!!
Nice room and comfortable bed :) the property is nice
The property is stunningly beautiful. It's very new and very clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The pool is great and the restaurants are excellent. The guys at the concierge (Joe and Bernese) are funny and helpful and just really nice guys. They set us up on fun tours. We liked Mexico Rocks better than Hol Chan; less humans - more fish (and Turtles). The location is not ideal as much of the newer development is north of town and MB is south of town. It's not THAT far; takes less than 15 minutes to get into town on a golf cart, but it's a bumpy, bumpy ride and it gets old. The private beach was a little disappointing. The water is very shallow and there are biting bugs in the water.
