Colombo Villa is a gorgeous sanctuary in a busy town. Our family loved the very large room, and especially loved the pool - but really there wasn't anything we could find fault with. And after we checked out at 11am, with 12 hours to kill before our flight, they were happy for us to set up a little basecamp near the pool and use their showers etc. so we left ready for the arduous trip ahead in the best condition possible. One of other guests visited Colombo five times a year for several weeks at a time, and had chosen Colombo Villa as her "home away from home" - and we can see why.
The general neighbourhood was nice too - a short stroll from the National Museum and park, and a breeze to hail tuk-tuks if needed. And the pool is covered for when the occasional downpour strikes!
5 stars.
Colombo Villa is a lovely property with the most attentive staff in Cinnamon Gardens. The highlight of the stay was the staff. They are very friendly and ready to help (but not intrusive). They prepared a vegetarian Sri Lankan breakfast for me when I asked and arranged a late night cab to the airport. Breakfast was delicious. Finally, there were not kids there when I visited, but it seems extremely kid friendly. I saw a crib, high chair, floaty toys in the pool, etc.
The hotel staff were more than accommodating and sensitive to my gluten allergy and went out of their way to ensure I had a delicious breakfast. Unfortunately, as we were getting ready to check out, the horrible attacks happened in Colombo. The staff were doing everything in their power to make sure that we were safe and worked to review our itinerary to make sure we would continue to be safe. We are very grateful to them for their kind hospitality.
Dyrt, men mycket bra hotell.
We had a brilliant stay at Colombo Villa - the building is lovely and the staff are super hospitable. We thought it was a real treat to stay there. We highly recommend purchasing the breakfast: both the standard and the Sri Lankan dinner were delicious. The pool was a great way to refreshing after a long day exploring. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had the odd large bug and a persistent drain smell in the bathroom, which cleared when the fan was turned on - all part of the Colombo experience! Otherwise very clean. We had some trouble walking to a nearby restaurant - you might have to catch a tuktuk or taxi for something good. Otherwise, we felt safe walking around the local area. We would love to return!
We stayed 2 periods of our trip to Sri Lanka at this place. At the beginning and at the end of our journey. A quiet spot in a hectic city. Calm and nice people working here, always a smile, big rooms with nice beds. All in all a pleasant stay! Merete, Berte and SĂžlvi, Norway.
This hotel was excellent! We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was amazing and the pool was very clean and refreshing after a hard day sightseeing around Colombo!
The location was great but our taxi driver had a lot of trouble finding it so my advice would be to keep the hotel phone number handy so they can ring for directions...
