We booked the hotel for a 3-night stay, and the first room we had - the suite with a separate bedroom - was in terrible condition. It smelled so musty that we immediately took our hanging clothes back to the car for fear the smell would stick to them. The bathroom and living area were filthy with stains on the walls and furniture. One stain appeared to be blood, but the cleaning staff insisted we were wrong. I refused to allow any of our belongings to touch surfaces other than the desk.
We asked the front desk for a room change, and we were moved to a much smaller room but charged the same amount as the larger room. The smaller room was also very dirty. The bathroom floor, walls, and doors had brown stains, so we were not able to bathe for fear of what the brown coloring was. We found hair in both rooms.
We didn't arrive to Dallas until late that night, or we would have left the hotel without staying at all. We left the hotel first thing the next morning, and the only redeeming thing about the hotel was how the front desk handled the situation. They assured us that we would not be charged for the remaining two nights of our reservation and apologized for the state of the hotel.
The rating is misleading. The property is very old and unclean - to the point that it seems to be a health hazard. Even if you have to pay a little more, find somewhere else to stay.
