I recently stayed at the Leonardo East Midlands with my family (5 in total) and was quite disappointed by the fact that the pool and leisure facilities we had specifically chosen the hotel for were unavailable during our stay. Upon booking, I had carefully selected this property based on its amenities, which featured the pool and gym to set it apart and secured a higher charge, which we thought was worth it for access to these facilities. However, when we arrived, we were informed that the pool was closed for maintenance, and there was no mention of this at the time of booking or prior to our arrival.
I understand that maintenance is sometimes necessary, but it was frustrating to not have been notified in advance. This significantly impacted our stay, as we were looking forward to enjoying these facilities to make it worth our while staying over rather than rushing home. Furthermore, the staff didn't seem to offer any alternative solutions though we received complimentary breakfast for two of our party.
While the rest of the hotel was fine, this experience left a sour note on what could have otherwise been a relaxing trip and a repeat visit (we were visiting family nearby). I would strongly recommend that the hotel update their listings and communicate any facility closures ahead of time to avoid future disappointments for guests, perhaps with the parking information that they sent in advance.
