The best restaurants in St Ives naturally take full advantage of the seaside location on the north coast of Cornwall, bringing fresh fish and local produce to the table. St Ives has been a bustling fishing port since the Middle Ages and a popular resort town since 1877.
St Ives has forged a reputation as an upscale surf resort and its wealthy visitors support a wide range of restaurants and boutiques. Its food scene is one of the best in the area. While the town’s chip-snatching seagulls are as audacious as ever, you’ll also find plenty of eateries to satisfy the pickiest of gastronomes.

Porthminster Beach Café is located right on the sand at Carbis Bay. In summer, this whitewashed café is the ideal spot for discerning foodie beachgoers. Meanwhile, out of season, a glass-enclosed heated terrace keeps patrons toasty as they watch the wind whip up mighty Atlantic swells.
Dine on shellfish from the Fal River, Helford and Rock estuaries or fish landed in Newlyn, Looe and Mevagissey harbours. The café sources many of the herbs, salads and vegetables it serves from its own nearby kitchen garden, which was created on what was once waste ground.
