Reserved three rooms for me and my friends, and one of us was told we had to go to a different hotel for the night because of “technical difficulties” with the room when trying to check in. Also, the shuttle service to and from the hotel had us waiting for 40 minutes at the Battery after they said they were on the way before we gave up and walked back to the hotel.

This hotel's low score (7.8) concerned me, but given my experience with Marriott, I thought I would try it for one night. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the experience, so much so that I give it a "10." The hotel is aged, but clean. I saw literature in the room indicating that renovations are imminent, which is good. The fitness center is first rate although one of the stairmasters did not work. The biggest plus for the hotel is its staff. I found everyone I encountered (lobby, restaurant) to be friendly, courteous, and eager to help. Parking situation is a bit confusing for a first-time visitor; I would encourage the staff to explain the process clearly so that patrons are not stuck at the gate trying to exit, frustrating not just the person at the gate but those patrons stuck behind that person.
