This hotel is old. No sense of welcome to our hotel upon check in. Sold car parking and the only spots left were for electric cars. Used to have air conditioning but wasnât told it didnât work until after Iâd booked and paid. Had a fan which was so old and noisy you couldnât sleep with it on and the window could barely open for fresh air. The television didnât work. Not worth the ÂŁ80. Worth about ÂŁ25.
I booked a triple room, but all the amenities provided were only for one person â one duvet, one towel, one cup, and one set of toiletries. This is clearly unacceptable for a triple room. I reported this to the reception and explained that it was not an urgent request, and I would be fine if the items could be delivered later in the evening. However, the staff showed a poor attitude, were unwilling to help, and simply replied that they were busy without taking any further action. On top of that, the room was dirty and did not meet basic cleanliness standards. This experience is extremely disappointing and far below expectations.
I needed to spend a night in Exeter to pick up a car. The Holiday Inn Express is a very convenient and comfortable hotel, close to the city centre. The location, close to the River Exe means it is much lower than the city centre, so expect a steep walk back to the restaurants in the centre, although the Quay area is more or less on the same level.
