I recently stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott, and it was one of my most disappointing experiences in hospitality. Having stayed at this facility over 30 times since moving to Salinas, I’ve witnessed a drastic deterioration in quality, likely due to housing illegal individuals and participating in other questionable activities.
Upon check-in, I encountered unprofessional and violent behavior from the staff. The room was dirty, with mold in the bathroom and dog feces scattered at the entrance. An overwhelming foul odor permeated the room.
I reported these issues, but management's response was inadequate; instead of fixing the problems, they provided dusty fans for the broken AC. When I asked to move to another available room, I was met with resistance.
The situation escalated when I requested an extra 20 minutes at check-out for my daughter to finish breakfast. This reasonable request was met with hostility, seemingly in retaliation for my prior complaints. Later, I received a noise complaint for having my music on while packing up, despite the cleaning staff blasting their own music.
Additionally, I noticed suspicious individuals around the hotel, and when I raised my concerns, I was falsely accused of violence, leading to the police being called. This hotel is deeply troubling, and I urge potential guests to avoid the Residence Inn by Marriott. No one should have to endure such a harrowing experience.
