Charming little hotel with good restaurant and pub visited by the locals. The best englsih breakfast we had in our two weeks in South England. Very confortable family room with nice details and a beautiful view to teh cemetery and the church. Chagford is also a must to sea and a good starting point to discover the national park.
We stayed here one night, we will be back we loved it, lovely clean tidy room, homely, not kneen that dogs could stay in our room I'm very fussy! We had an evening meal the food was excellent a sunday roast very very homemade and very tasty, some nice pubs around the street to check out too.
The place looks a bit drab from the outside but inside we had a warm welcome from Mary and Lynn and very much enjoyed the cosy bar and restaurant. The rooms were comfortable and warm, the latter an important consideration given that we were hiking and getting wet!
The Globe is a terrific inn in Chagford. The people who run it are friendly and welcoming. They very kindly went above and beyond to get the room ready a bit earlier for us so we could attend a wedding in the church opposite. Speaking of - what a glorious view from our room! Our room was clean and comfy and full of charm and it was great to have a sign on our table welcoming us to breakfast the next morning.
Good location.
Friendly and helpful staff
Room was comfortable with a good sized bathroom.
Coffee and tea provided along with biscuits and a chocolate. Nice touch.
The evening meal was tasty. The starter of goats cheese parcels was excellent. The main meal was a local beef and ale pie which was very tasty. The menu was limited due to staff shortages but the selection was still very good.
We had a lovely cooked breakfast with a good choice of cereals and bread. There were several options available.
Reasonable price.
Chagford will not be on everyone's list, but if you come to Dartmoor there is no better home base. And The Globe Inn is definitely the place to stay. Our room was like an apartment and beautifully appointed. Downstairs is a nice dining room and friendly pub. Experience small town English life from this welcoming inn.
Dissapointing that Breakfast started at 08.30am. I was on a business trip. So no breakfast was consumed. I adjed the evening before and i was advised that they could not promise. Sadly i will not use the Golbe again for a business trip.
