Stayed in room 8. There was black mould on the on the ceiling , mould on the bottom shower trim, no plug in the bathroom, the water from the tap only tricked..
There was cobwebs in the room , the window didn't close. There was thick dust on the top of the wardrobe and on the top of the 4 poster bed, only one side lamp was plugged into an electrical socket, there was no mattress protector and the mattress was 4 inches from the headboard.i was not given the wi fi password so I couldn't use their internet. The best thing was the breakfast
Shabby, but not chic!! AVOID. The room was absolutely freezing and the heating went off at midnight. Not acceptable for December with a thin duvet an no blankets. The fixtures and fittings are tired, broken. The cups in the room had dirty water in them when we arrived. The bathroom tiles had mould and the whole room smelt mouldy . I opened the wardrobe door and the mirror on the front of it literally fell off and hit me. I noted the other wardrobe door had already been boarded up, so clearly the other mirror had already fallen out. At breakfast we were told by the chef that only two breakfasts could be cooked at one time as he only had a small pan and it was full English or nothing. People were sat waiting - for ages - ridiculous. The bar staff in the evening had a debate and checked all the half empty crusty bottles on a rickety old shelf as theyâd never heard of amaretto. The limited parking advertised on the website means driving up and down the road to find a non resident parking place - which there wasnât.
Awful experience. This was the worse place we have ever stayed. Rude staff. Mould and damp in the room. It was freezing. Said they would put the heat on until 1am and we got in at 11.30pm and it wasnât on. They also said it would be on in the morning at 6am but it wasnât on at 7am. Dirty all over. I have no words.
The heating in the rooms needs a major improvement, i have never felt so cold in my life!! When I woke up this morning I was shivering. I had breakast in the bar, but the food was cold before I could eat half of it.
The place is lovely. Over 500 years old. Fantastic court area. And staff was very friendly and helpful. The room i thought i booked wasnt the same on the pictures
Advertised fridge in rooms. None had them. The manager sorted a different room for us which we was very happy with. He did agree with us that the picture was very miss leaning. That was on hotel.com
Breakfast was very good and we had a meal there too which was excellent. We stayed in room 10. Which was big and lovely. Some of the other reviews where not good. But its a 500 years old. We loved the character of the building. We booked 2 nights as we went to harry potter studios which is only a 15 mins drive from there. There is no parking. Only on the street. Which gets full.
