This was a convenient hotel for a nearby wedding and was OK but nothing special. Tired feel to the place, wifi not working, doors slamming, keys to open doors not easy to use. I would expect the price to be maybe a third cheaper than it is for what you get.
This is a converted country house with pleasant surroundings. Reception took a whike to appear on check in room good size but bathroom not clean (old toothpaste marks on basin surround, dirty windows). Not especially comfortable bed for all tastes. No shaving mirror or tissues. Food adequate though breakfast service haphazard and quality inconsistent. A bit disappointing and somewhat faded overall given the price point of accommodation.
Love coming back here, relaxed atmosphere, lovely homely rooms and great food. Staff always helpful and appear very happy in their jobs, always a good sign of a happy ship!
Difficult one to award stars. The hotel itself, appearance and setting is fantastic. The service and quality of food was exceptional as was the value for money. The one thing that was a huge disappointment was the room.
We stayed in room 12. The bed, I think, was installed when the hotel was built, it was so uncomfortable that neither of us slept for more than a couple of hours. Every time any water was used, sink, shower or WC a motor kicked in presumably part of the sewage system. The noise was, to say the least annoying and added to the lack of sleep. Due to the strange layout of the bathroom, access to the window for cleaning is very restrictive and therefore difficult if not impossible to clean.
Obviously my review is only for room 12 and had it not been for this I would easily have awarded a 5 star review.
I would highly recommend this hotel but ask for a different room
Sweeney Hall is an old, large farm manor/estate. Staff were very accommodating of our delayed arrival. Service had a couple of rough spots (ran out of a couple of menu items). Room was large & delightful. Grounds were wonderful.
