The house was fine for what we needed for a couple of nights. Off-street parking was good. We attended an event at Duffus village hall and the house location was excellent for that. There were some annoying features though, such as:
- the kicker board in the kitchen falls down whenever you open the dishwasher
- the plates are too deep to fit in the dishwasher
- the fridge door could do with being fitted on the other side
- the house sleeps 6 but there is only settee space for 4
- the settee is not comfortable
- there are steps, so not wheelchair friendly. There is a ramp down to the car park, but builders had blocked it by placing slabs at the end of it.
- a TV in one of the bedrooms didn’t get any channels
Some of these points could be easily fixed.
By far the biggest problem we had was gain in entry to the house. We did not receive the code for the lockbox in advance, and the property owner was not available to help us immediately. The 3 phone numbers given went straight to voicemail. Nobody phoned back. I ended up on the phone to Hotels.com in America, but they couldn’t help either. Eventually, after 4 hours waiting to get entry, we got a message with the lockbox code. The first code was incorrect, but the second code given was correct. After arriving at 4pm, we got in at 8pm. That ate into our evening plans. After our stay the property owner gave us a 50% refund for the inconvenience caused, which we considered to be fair.
