We have nothing but praise for the whole staff who is absolutely charming, quick and efficient, from check-in to check-out.
The premises & facilities are well-maintained. The pool & spa are extremely enjoyable and an excellent way to unwind. The gym, on the other hand, is quite small and is also very hot because it is in the same building as the pool. This came as a surprise, as the rest of the resort is top quality.
The room was spacious and very comfortable. The only minor annoyance we had was we could sometimes hear people chatting outside because of the porch right next to our door.
Dinner was some of the best food we have had in our 3 weeks in Portugal. Breakfast was just as lovely and featured a good selection of fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, breads and pastries... as well as our favorite pasteis de nata of the trip!
We were lucky enough to stay during the grape harvest season and book Monverde's wine experience. As wine enthousiasts, we were not disappointed. This was a genuine experience, and was a highlight of our trip. We had the chance to spend the day with Monverde's wine director, the lovely (and extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work!) Ms. Monteiro, with whom we toured the vineyard and learned much about the process of making vinho verde. There was also a pic nic worthy of mention, in a wonderful setting, and absolutely delicious.
We will remember this day –and our stay in Monverde– for a very long time!
