I stayed two night's at the Russell Hotel. Absolutely no complaints, staff were approachable, friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable accommodation. The building itself is old and quaint, within easy walking distance from the town centre.
My room was at the very top of the building, my stay was during a heatwave, the hotel doesn't have aircon so the room was very hot, so sleep was difficult. I asked for a fan, but it had already been given to another guest. So perhaps the owners could consider buying a couple more fans?
Sehr schönes Haus, das leider ins Alter gekommenen ist. Liegt an einer sehr befahrenen StraĂe, daher etwas laut. Stadtzentrum fuĂlĂ€ufig schnell erreichbar. Zuvorkommendes Personal.
Staff helpful. Room in attic, so no windows that could open and blinds not great. No lift. Lot of noise from next room's bathroom fan. Furniture tired. Reasonably clean. Breakfast good. Chosen for parking which I obtained, but is very limited. Handy location for the centre of town.
We had a comfort room in the building next door. Lovely and spacious! Comfortable bed, huge bathroom with a four piece suite, small kitchenette with fridge & microwave and a seating area.
The service was fantastic and the breakfast was fabulous the next morning. The decor is dated. I dont like the bath shower set up. The chairs and curtains and carpets are all dark and old. Maybe have some music playing quietly at the bar. The single bed was not comfortable. My 1 case weighs 30 kg, no lift, steps everywhere you go, this is not practical for someone with luggage. The receptionist did ask a guest to take my heavy suitcase up the 3 flights of steps for me. The staff are lovely and really helpful. The photos are so deceiving. The shops are really close to the hotel, thats no lie.
Excellent situation only 2 minutes walk from the town centre with free onsite parking. The staff are friendly with excellent service during breakfast time. The rooms are comfortable, if a little dated and the whole place would benefit from being freshly decorated. This is only a minor issue and I would happily stay there again in the future.
Stayed here for two nights.
Cons -
- No lift.
- No concierge
- Food is average at best.
- Shoddy looking rooms and furniture.
- Overpriced
- Noise from neighbouring rooms very audiable in your room
- Poorly lit/Dim lighting
Pros -
- Close to town centre and railway station
- Quiet surrounding
Wouldn't rebook unless I really had to.
Cheap, rooms were very dated I was expecting to see Rigsby in the hotel. Other clientele in the hotel were something to be desired but not hotels fault.
Nice budget hotel, close to my job and also very close (5 min walk) to the town centre.
The room was very spacious although dated in decor and furniture.
Temperature control was good and the en suite facilities were very good.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The breakfast was very good, freshly cooked rather than warmed up buffet style which was much better.
I think the only negative was the tiny TV at the far end of the room đșđ€
The Russell Hotel is a good place to stay very close to Royal Tunbridge Wells amenities and attractions.
We stayed here because we were going on the Spa Valley Railway Cheese Train on the Saturday afternoon and the hotel was an close enough to walk everywhere.
