It closed in 1975 for renovations and had a new grand opening in 1977. Since then, it has been the home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Since 1979, it has been a designated National Historic Site of Canada. It has appeared in "Battlestar Galactica," "Highlander," and "Fringe."
