Waterloo Road cuts right through the middle of Blackpool's South Beach area. It's one of the most important streets in this part of the town, connecting Blackpool South station with the beachfront and the piers. Along its length are all sorts of entertainments, from betting shops to local pubs, not to mention a smattering of vintage Blackpool façades that bring to life the heyday of the resort town in the early 20th and late 19th centuries.

What are the highlights of Waterloo Road?
Waterloo Road offers a quick and convenient way to get from the railway station of Blackpool South to the vibrant seafront area. The walk between the two takes just over five minutes. That means you can hop off one of the regular train services up from Preston and be munching fish and chips on the Promenade in no time at all.
But Waterloo Road is also more than just a route from A to B. It's also the gateway to some of the town's most iconic attractions. The South Pier, the Pleasure Beach and the Sandcastle Waterpark can all be reached within five minutes, while the street itself hosts a kaleidoscope of shopping and dining.
There's not a chance you'll go hungry in this part of Blackpool. There are cosy English tearooms and coffee houses with homemade cakes, along with traditional British pubs and their grub menus. Then you get the familiar smell of fish and chips down by the beachfront takeaways. You'll smell that as soon as you get near the shoreline.
Where to shop on Waterloo Road?
Waterloo Road reigns as one of Blackpool's best-known shopping streets. There's a real menagerie of places to get stuck into with the retail cap on, from rug emporiums to interior design stores to bespoke fashion shops that can kit you out for a night in the Lancashire bars.
You'll also find quirky outlets selling fancy dress outfits and New Age spiritual gifts. And there are pet shops and charity shops with all sorts of stock that's sure to catch the eye. The upshot is that Waterloo Road draws an eclectic crowd of window browsers, which add energy and fun into the mix, especially during the bustling summer months.

Good to know about Waterloo Road in Blackpool
Waterloo Road is a street first and foremost. That means you'll need to watch out for traffic when you come to visit its mix of pubs and shops and ice-cream parlours. Thankfully, vehicle access is limited past the roundabout on Lytham Road.
Getting to Waterloo Road should be easy from both sides. The western end of the street opens onto the Blackpool Promenade. That's one of the best-known walks through the town and links the North Pier to the main centre of Blackpool. The eastern end of Waterloo Road rolls straight into Blackpool South train station. That's the arrival point for trains coming in from Preston.
Waterloo Road never closes but the shops along its length do. Most are open from early morning to around 5 pm, but hours may vary depending on the season.
