These best things to do after dinner in St Lucia show that there’s plenty to enjoy after a day of taking in the blue seas and sunny beaches. Venturing out in the evening, you can find both chill spots and lively party scenes to suit your mood. Music plays a big role in St Lucia’s nightlife scene, with many bars and clubs livened up with the sounds of jazz bands, calypso singers, DJs spinning dance music, reggae performers, and more.

Most of St Lucia’s nightlife action takes place in and around Rodney Bay village, with its strip lined with bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Be sure to join one of St Lucia’s weekly “jump up” or “fish fry” nights where people gather for a festive street party with a local Caribbean flair.

Rum is, of course, one of the main spirits here, but there’s also a wine list and sake selection to try. The food menu features mostly Asian dishes, with sushi and sashimi among the favourites. Anse La Raye is a small fishing village just south of Marigot Bay in St Lucia. This usually quiet place transforms into a colourful carnival of music and food every week when it hosts the popular Friday Fish Fry.

Starting at around 7 pm, Front Street is closed to vehicle traffic, and vendors set up tables and tents where they sell grilled fish, lobster, plates of seafood with rice and other local dishes. Big speakers blast the sounds of the live Reggae or calypso bands, and there’s plenty of cold Piton beer to go around.

Open all day and well into the evening after sunset (except on Fridays), it’s a good spot to just hide away for a few hours and let the sounds of the waves soothe you while you sip a cocktail or 2.

Though Naked Fisherman is part of a luxury resort, the ambiance here is more casual, with the bar and dining tables set under a Caribbean-style thatched roof. Those who have dined at the sought-after Cliff at Cap restaurant could wander down to the Naked Fisherman for a nightcap.

Night snorkelling and diving in St Lucia

Diving and snorkelling aren’t usually considered to be evening activities, but there’s a fascinating underwater world to discover after dark in the reefs and surrounding seas of St Lucia. Darkness brings out a different set of marine creatures that daytime divers don’t get to see, like certain species of crustaceans, basket stars, parrotfish, squid, and bioluminescent plankton.

One of the best sites for night dives and snorkel sessions is the shallow reef in front of the Anse Chastanet Resort, where night dive trips are offered at least twice weekly. We strongly urge you to only use organised trips as venturing out into the sea at night alone can be very dangerous.

Jambe de Bois is a café and bar found on the beach in St Lucia’s Pigeon Island National Park, well away from any hectic tourist scene. It’s open all day and serves simple meals, but it becomes an even more magical place on weekend nights when you can listen to live jazz while enjoying a frozen cocktail. The setting is “boho-cosy”, with tables and chairs made of driftwood strewn in front of the open-front shack, and with local art for sale inside.

Getting to Jambe de Bois is a bit of an adventure as you need to pay to enter the national park, then walk down a slightly rough path from the car park to reach it. Or, if you have a yacht moored in Rodney Bay, you could cruise over to the beach in your dinghy.
