This Inn is in a good location, nice downhill walk to center of Carmel. Our room was very large and we loved the gas fireplace. Manager was pleasant, but the office is minimally staffed and closed most of the time. It's also where the ice machine is, so load up if it's open and keep the bucket in your fridge and it lasts. The cleaning staff does not read or understand English, so I had to get a bath towel from our room and hold up one finger to get an extra.
The big drawback to this place, for me, are the stairs to the second floor. There's no elevator or help, so you have to lug everything up yourself. They are not easy to climb and at night you can feel very insecure as they are not well lighted. So stick with a ground floor room. Advertised views of the ocean are there, but you mainly see trees and sky and water is pretty obscured.
If you want bar soap, bring your own.
It was fairly quiet, with guest dogs not barking too much. Garbage collection seems to happen daily and early.
Parking lot is small and first come.
