Was not accurately descriptive on how close the railroad tracks are to the room! 15-20â max from the cabin, had 4 separate trains pass a night roughly every 1.5-2 hours and shakes the entire cabin. No sleep the first night, had to buy ear plugs for us the second night. Bed mattresses are 4-6â thick pads. General store was nice, bath house was ok and the staff was friendly.
We stayed this past week with our two dogs, and it was a wonderful family vacation. We stayed in the Blacksmith Cottage, which was fully-furnished with everything we needed. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with pots and pans, and the oven and fridge were great to have. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The grounds were quiet and seemed very safe - we did hear the trains a few times, but with a white-noise speaker and some soft earplugs, it didn't bother us or the dogs at all. If you're looking for a nice place to stay with the pups, close to historical Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, this is a love stay!
Nothing to do and over priced. Train went by cabin 3 all night long. Everything closed at 8 and even the game room. Very small cabins with no bathroom. Will never stay again
This is a real gem. It is small but very accomodating. Love seeing the families enjoy themselves and seeing everyone walking their dogs. Very friebdly. Wish it hadnât rain but our daughter still had a great time at the game room and the free ice cream. Wish the ac worked better in the game room amd bathrooms but they were not terrible so I still give them a good review. We stayed in the apprentice cabin and it was very nice and comfortable-exept the queen bed could have used a spring base instead if the wood box used in a lot of camprounds. Makes for a very achy night sleep. Remember an airmatress and hopefully it wonât slide off but would have been nice. other than that this is an awesome lovation with all kinds of places to see all around. And one special treat believe it or not was the train track right behind our cabin. The train track runs some feet away from the camp but I absolutely loved the trains. I thought it was fun to see what kind of train it was and our dogs didnât even mind it. I could hear them at night and didnât ebother me then either. What a lovely place to go see. It is tiny, look at the website , but it is a hit with our family.
We rented one of the cabins at Anvil and my family was a little nervous about my plans - camping, dry cabin, grilling dinner... Immediately, my family fell in love and is eager to stay at Anvil again next year. Their story is amazing and I have enjoyed sharing it. The campground was small and very quaint but had all the things to keep everyone busy; rain or shine. They also worked very hard keeping everything so clean! Many thanks to their team!
everyone was extremely nice and helpful !! can tell it is a family run business. bathrooms awesome, sites way above average in layout etc. even pool table in arcadeâŠ
would have put cabins away from rr tracks, commuters ok, but the 1-3 min coal trains woke me up every time both nights. :-(
for the extra cost vs. test site in same area not really get full value of renting a cabin, btw cabin were very nice!
would go again but likely with my popup..
Photos are a little deceiving. Idk weâre the red cabins are, didnât see them, but we did stay in a spacious bungalow. Very clean! Grounds were kept very nice. People were very friendly. Nice front porch with picnic table, another table with 4 chairs, bench swing, grill and a fire pit. Cement parking space. Plenty of swings and stuff for kids. They can ride their bikes around property without worry. We had a pleasant stay! Would gladly stay again if the beds and pillows werenât so hard. One other thing. The train tracks are right behind the camp grounds. So if you donât like loud noises when your sleeping. I myself love the sounded the train!
My grandsons 5 and 7 had a wonderful time. The camp ground was just perfect for us . The train was not a problem at all the boys loved it. Very clean and well kept, everyone very helpful and pleasant. Will come back and would recommend to grand parents that want to make a great memory.
The campground was clean enough, and the bathrooms were clean at times. Certainly not "cleanest in the world" as advertised. The cabin itself was clean but the mattresses were SO uncomfortable. We have stayed in many cabins like this and I have never had such bad back pain that lasted for days. Worst of all though is the train that passes about 15 ft from the cabin all night long. I did get an email about this a few days before our reservation "warning" us, but this was after I could get a refund. We would have never stayed here knowing it would be two sleepless nights in a row. Shame on Anvil for not being up front.
When booking the room it states that there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. However thatâs is not the case. The restroom is not in the cabin but you have to walk to it. I did receive an email stating that the restroom was not in the cabin but was âsuper closeâ so we thought it Wallyâs be a good experience but that also was not the case. There were 2 cabins relatively close to the restrooms but that was not ours. Even though one of them were empty the whole time of our visit we were not offered that cabin. 2 days after that we received and email that there was a train that ran behind the cabin at various times throughout the say which was no issue, but it didnât say that I could have reached out the cabin and touched it. It wasnât only the noise but the whole cabin shakes every time the train went by so no sleep was found. They also donât tell you that the mattress are only a 2 inch thick plastic covered piece of foam. The place is pretty clean which is good and the game room is nice but it closes at 6. We checked out early and asked for a refund but was denied. We went to a hotel that was cheaper and much nicer.
We would not return if you are looking to ruffing it at an elaborate price this is the place for you. Also be aware there are cameras all over the place on the campground.
The staff are very welcoming and super friendly. Everything was ready upon our arrival. The cabin was extremely clean and cozy. The bathhouse/restroom facilities were clean and heated. The surrounding area was nice and included an arcade and playground to occupy little ones. This campground is extremely nice and we would definitely stay there again.
The Trains are rocking the campgrounds but no whis
Well it's a great family campground with options to stay with your tent, a cabin or your Rv
Only one shower for the men and another one for women
All in one bathhouse
Very clean and friendly.
If you are sensitive to noise it's pretty quite until you hear and feel the dieisel train
Thunders by a few times every night
Regardless if you're in a tent or trailer it's 20-30 feet from you, your going to know exactly what I'm telling you
2 hrs sleep after 11 pm so tuck in early....
Great place to stay in the area and the people were very nice and welcoming. The place was very clean and comfortable. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
We stayed in one of the log cabins. Our grandkids loved the adventure and play areas on site. They also enjoyed watching the trains as they passed by. Our bed was on the hard side but ok. The staff is excellent. Everyone was nice and friendly. Check-in was a breeze. Will stay again next time we are in the area.
The cottage was perfect for us--a little spartan, but everything we needed, and as represented. The family/staff were so pleasant and helpful. We would not hesitate to return.
Train tracks were literally right behind the cabin. The cabin shook like there was an earthquake every time a train went by. My guesstimate is about 5 trains the night I was there. I do not recommend staying in the cabins.
Overall the campground is very nice. There is a small pool, cute playground, clean bathrooms, game room, and friendly service with free coffee and donuts in the morning. If you stay in an RV site where your backyard isn't a train track, maybe the train noise and force will be lessened since the cabins serve as buffers.
