Barking dog in our assigned room.
We wanted to take a family trip to St. Louis. I spent hours reviewing hotels on hotels.com and this hotel came back with the best reviews and close to St. Louis without being in the city. After a long day of traveling we checked in at the front desk and we were informed the hotel required a 75.00 accidental fee that gets reimbursed after our stay. I get having a card on file for damages but never heard of being charged a fee that gets returned after your stay. Hotel was paid through hotels.com app. Anyway got our keys to the room, unloaded our family of 5 and proceeded to the room. As we got off the elevator a barking dog could be heard from a room down the hallway. OK cool they allow pets. As we got closer to our room we realised the barking was coming from the room we were given and there was a do not disturb sign on the door. Back down to the front desk we went. They changed us to a different room with little to no explaination of why the room was already filled. When we got to the new room it had a smell in it like someone had vaped in it. We were to tired to go back to the lobby and complain so we settled in. After settling in the toilet plugged up after being used forbthe first time, so back down to the front desk anyway where they had to call the manager to find a plunger and we had to take care of it ourselves. Our first night was frustrating.
