Udon Thani is a major city in the northeastern region of Thailand, famed for its Buddhist temple complexes, nature parks, outdoor adventures, archaeological sites and deep history. The Wat Phothisomphon Buddhist temple complex dates to the 19th century but features a pagoda constructed in the 21st century for an astounding marriage of past and present. Udon Thani Park hosts Nong Prachak Lake with its garden island as well as many hiking trails. At the Udon Sunshine Orchid Farm you will see a unique breed of orchids known for their rich fragrance.

The Ban Chiang archaeological site features artefacts, tools, farming implements and burial sites dating to the Bronze Age. More local culture can be found at the Thai Chinese Cultural Centre with its museum, traditional far eastern gardens and museum. The Mung Udon Thani Museum collects thousands of artefacts tracking local history and culture. For more modern family fun and entertainment, the Usotel Waterland offers a water park with waterslides and a lazy river.
