Even during the final days of Ramadan, with the call to prayer speakers close-by, Absinthe was a dream of a place. The rooftop. OmG. No. I cried for the beauty and the color of the sea, the white houses like cubes tumbling towards the blue sea. Loved every minute and hope to return. Can anyone ever forget the smell of harira soup being prepared ... children playing in the street below ... magical. Merci, Tanger!
Our hotelier, Marcel was wonderful and so helpful and we had laundry done for a very reasonable price and returned same day. It's difficult to get to the riad as cars can only get so close but it is very walkable to the coast, the ferry station, and all of the souks in the medina.
The bed was very hard as they are at most riads and unfortunately there was a mosque speaker right outside of the old wooden window frames so the prayers are VERY loud with the first at dawn and the last about an hour after sunset.
I do not recommend that single women stay anywhere in the medina. It did not feel safe at night as things were closing.
Excellent experience with prompt check in, clean room and wonderful service. Brief power outage but didnât affect our stay as we were leaving by then. Thank you for a wonderful time!
