Property itself is new and clean with good location. However, the room we received had only a frosted window with no outlook. Further, upon check-in, as I’d accidentally made a booking for one instead of two, I was made to pay a supplement. While I accept this, I was charged twice the rate the hotel was advertising on the same day for the same room, making it among the more expensive properties in Higashiyama. Further, they then excluded breakfast from this supplement, in effect doubling the cost my room with no substantial improvement in service to provide for the second guest. Clearly, this is a hotel happy to take advantage of their customer and charge unreasonable and extortionate fees. In extensive travel throughout Japan, never have I felt taken advantage of by customer service, so to avoid this risk I suggest booking a stay at one of the plethora of reputable hotels in the area at more appropriate rates.
