We have a family room at the lodge which is fairly basic but fantastic ... has everything we need and comfortable to sleep. It is in the perfect spot with the beach across the road and a 1-5 min walk to all restaurants, shops etc. Love the holiday vibe of this place! Definitely want to come back and stay longer.
Great location but horribly designed backpackers. Way over priced for what it is. Kitchen and bathrooms stink. Needs windows in the bathroom. The outdoor area was horrible. Needs grass. Glad we werent there on a hot day. No aircon amd rooms just hot. We had a private room but felt sorry for thw backpackers. The bunkneds must be horrid. Kitchen needs a dishwasher and new ventilation system and a whole set of new appliances. For thw prices they charge they should improve it. Quite embarrassing really if this is what NZ is providing tourists.
Nothing was every a problem for the staff, nice cool chill feel to the place.
Didnât like the wait to use the kitchen but that will always happen in a communal kitchen
The locations is awesome, it is close to the beach and the cruise to Abel Tasman park. The room was clean but the bathroom was terrible. The fan did not work properly so it was always wet, what resulted in a terrible smell.
Because we traveled during off-season the reception closed at around 4 pm. This was not ideal, especially because we had wifi codes that only lasted 24 hours and expired that evening.
Our stay overall was okay, but we did not feel comfortable enough to shower which could be even worse in the summer time.
Ok as a backpacker hostel but ensuite room compromised by ground floor window next to busy path, constant kitchen extract smells and thin walls (so noisy).
Convenient for the boat to Abel Tasman but pretty basic en suite accommodation - more 'Flashpackers' than hotel! However Kaiteriteri is a beautiful location.
