A brief history of New York-New York Hotel & Casino

The New York-New York Hotel & Casino is the brainchild of former White House staffer, Sig Rogich. Construction plans were put into action in the mid-1990s, and at a cost of over $450 million, the doors opened to the public in January 1997.

The hotel has also gone through multiple renovations since its opening. The Big Apple Coaster has smoother rails and magnetic braking, while the casino floor went through a massive expansion in 2013. The hotel rooms and restaurants are regularly updated, too. In 1999, MGM took full control of the hotel, making it one of the country’s largest casino management groups.
