Port Aransas

What you need to know before you go

Port Aransas is on Mustang Island just off the coast of Texas and is famed for its Gulf of Mexico beaches, panoramic viewpoints, dolphin sightings and animal encounters. At Roberts Point Park, visitors climb an observation tower for panoramic views of the Gulf and dolphin sightings. Bird watchers love to walk the boardwalk at Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center to view many species of birds like roseate spoonbills, and see alligators in the wetlands below. Island hopping is also an option here by catching a boat from Fisherman’s Wharf to San José Island.

Port Aransas Beach offers soft white sands and clear ocean waves ideal for surfing, while I. B. Magee Beach Park offers beachfront campsites. Red Dragon Pirate Cruises offer a chance to see the Gulf from an authentic pirate ship, while the Port Aransas Museum showcases centuries of local history in an early 20th-century home. Golfers love to shoot a round on the championship course at Palmilla Beach Golf Club.
